This is my first review of a Netflix movie. Till now, I have only reviewed the Netflix shows. So, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare released recently on Netflix.in and viewers had huge expectations from the movie. Although, the satire was apt but the story telling took away the zest of the purpose. Konkana Sen and Bhumi Pednekar did a fair job with their acting portraying the feminist liberal virtues but that alone could not save the movie‘s fate. Writer/director Alankrita Srivastava has done an impeccable job of showcasing liberal women in her earlier movie, Lipstick under my Burkha without making it too overpowering on the story which I’m afraid was the case with this movie.
What’s sad is that despite the right subject, the movie couldn’t live up to it‘s righteous recognition.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you wouldn’t mind giving this one a miss.
Kritz!
